What a great weekend. The Beavers won the series against the Ducks. It was almost a clean sweep, but the Ducks managed to pull out an emotional and frustrating win over the Beavs on Saturday. The Beavers gave up a 2 run lead in the 8th, and the winning run in the 10th to lose 3-2. Jorge pitched on Sunday and got the win 8-1. He through 7 innings giving up 2 hits and 1unearned run. Jorge was very close to his maximum pitch count to end the 7th, and we were very surprised to see him come out to pitch in the 8th. He did his full warm up and just before the 1st pitch was thrown. Time was called and he was welcomed off the field with a standing ovation from the whole stadium. 13,500 of Both Duck and Beaver fans cheered together. It was pretty emotional. It was good to see him throw that well again. He has really struggled since the 2007 World Series. Go Beavs!
Here's the latest update for anyone who's interested. Jorge pitched at home against Hawaii on Monday. He threw 7 innings, 11 strike outs, and gave up 4 hits. That's a career best for him. He has a 3-1 record this year. Madi won her game last night to go 2-0 in soccer. Brennens' big weekend fell through. They didn't have school on Friday so they spent the day with Grandma Paula. Brennen started to cough during the day. By that night it was full blown. He had a cough, a fever, and was throwing up. That lasted until Sunday evening. He was pretty dissappointed. It was nice to have a week off though. We are headed back to Oregon this weekend to watch the Beavers face the Ducks. Go Beavs!
Here's our new project. We dropped the motor in and mounted the two front tires last night. It's an '83 Nissan 4x4 with a snug fitting, olson built, small block 400. The radiator and battery will have to be relocated to the back. It is being built for sand duning and mud bogging. It's only a 2 seater, but we will probably mount 2 more in the back for daredevil passengers. Mom and Grandma are you ready?
I forgot to mention Madis' dancing in my blog yesterday. That takes up our Monday night. She dances with Todays Generation. They have performed at basketball half times for the HS and Big Bend. Last night was a good night for us. Madi won her soccer game, and we won our basketball game. We now play in the championship game Wed. at 7. Happy St. Patricks Day.
It's the busy time of year for us. My blogging time has been pretty much been eliminated. Brennen and Madi have each started soccer, and Jorge has started a long stretch of home games at OSU. Each week consists of soccer and basketball then we travel to Oregon for baseball on the weekends. Jorge pitched last weekend in Portland. It was a rough outing for him, but we hung out and had a good time. Madi has her first game tonight. Brennens' was last Tuesday. Brennen has qualified for the hot shot basketball state tournament in Woodville, WA this weekend. It's a timed shooting competition. He took 1st place in his age group a couple of weeks ago in Moses Lake. Tyson and I are playing Moses Lake city league basketball for team Pure Line. We have made it to the semi-finals. Our next game is tonight at 7 o'clock. I will try to post some pics of all these events when I get a chance. Later, Brian
Here is a pic of Brennen, Madison,Laurissa, and Allyssa holding a python. The snake man came to visit their school, and they waited in line to hold the snake. Thank you Steve and Sandra for taking the kids.
Oregon State played their first series against Tennessee in Tennessee this last weekend. They were losing 3 to 1 when Jorge was brought in to pitch in the top of the 6th. He went 3 innings giving up 1 run while his team rallied to help him by scoring 13 runs to win 14 to 4. I will post his progress throughout the 2009 season for all who are interested. Let me know if anyone wants anything autographed from him. We should be going to visit him mid march, and watch him play.
Brian, Veronica, Brennen , and Madison Olson would like to welcome you to our blog. We are very close family, and love spending time together. We are deeply involved in sports. That's where most of our time is spent outside of work. The kids participate pretty much all year round. Between dance, basketball, soccer, and baseball we stay pretty busy. Thanks for visiting.
